Seminar Terms

The SAT Seminar is run by Learn Locus LLC, a company registered in North Carolina, United States, at 1609 Creighton Hall Way, Durham, NC 27703. Your contract is with Learn Locus LLC. The seminar is taught by Doug Poggioli and Alexandra Burston, and hosted at the offices of Edvice London, Barkat House, 116–118 Finchley Road, London NW3 5HT.

Anything about your booking: admin@learnlocus.com.

Applications are read by Doug and Alex, and we reply within two working days. If we offer a place and you accept, we reserve it for your child. A reserved place is a courtesy, not a contract: nothing is owed by either side at that point.

In January 2027 we will write to everyone holding a reserved place with a deposit link. Your booking — and the contract between us — is made when we receive the deposit. The deposit link stays open for fourteen days; if the deposit hasn’t been paid by then, we may offer the place to another family, and we’ll tell you before we do.

There are fifteen places. They are offered on fit, not in the order applications arrive.

The price covers the two weeks of teaching, the pre-seminar diagnostic, the final test, all materials, the written report, and refreshments and snacks each day. It does not cover lunch, travel, or accommodation. There are no other charges.

The price includes UK VAT at 20%. Because the seminar takes place in London, VAT applies to every family, including those who live outside the UK, and it can’t be reclaimed.

Payment is by card or bank transfer through the payment link we send. Prices are in pounds sterling; if you pay from an account in another currency, your bank’s exchange rate and any fees are yours. We send a receipt for each payment.

If the balance is unpaid on June 11 and we haven’t heard from you, we’ll write to you. If it remains unpaid two weeks after that, we may treat the booking as canceled under section 6 and release the place.

Because you book at a distance, you have a legal right to cancel the booking within fourteen days of the day the contract is made — that is, the day we receive your deposit — for any reason or none. This is in addition to everything in sections 5 and 6, not instead of it.

To cancel, tell us clearly in writing before the fourteen days are up — an email to admin@learnlocus.com is enough. You may use these words if you like:

We will refund everything you have paid within fourteen days of hearing from you, by the same method you paid, with no deduction and no fee.

The seminar goes ahead once ten families have paid deposits. We will confirm it, or tell you it isn’t running, by Monday, May 17, 2027.

If it isn’t confirmed by that date, or if Learn Locus cancels the seminar at any point and for any reason — including illness of an instructor, loss of the venue, or circumstances beyond our control — we refund everything you have paid, in full, within fourteen days. We do not retain any part of a deposit when the cancellation is ours.

Until the seminar is confirmed, you may also withdraw for any reason and receive a full refund of your deposit, whether or not the fourteen days in section 4 have passed.

Once the seminar is confirmed and your fourteen days have passed, canceling means a place that was held for your child can no longer be offered to another student on the same terms. The amounts below reflect that. In every case, if we fill your place from the waiting list, we refund everything you have paid.

To cancel, write to admin@learnlocus.com. The date we receive your email is the date that counts. Refunds are made within fourteen days by the method you paid.

If your child cannot attend because of illness or a family emergency, tell us. The table above is the most we will retain, not the least; we would rather talk than apply it mechanically.

The seminar runs Monday to Friday, July 12–23, 2027, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with optional time until 4 p.m. Students should arrive by 9:50 with a charged laptop (needed for the final test, which runs on the College Board’s Bluebook software), a charger, and a calculator. Missed days cannot be refunded or made up individually. Whatever is missed, the student still receives the written report.

We expect students to take part, to treat one another and the instructors with courtesy, and to keep the room free of anything that would distract fifteen people. If a student’s behavior makes the seminar unworkable for others, we will speak to you first; only if it continues would we ask the student to leave, in which case section 6 applies as if you had canceled on that date.

Before July we will send you our arrangements for supervision, safeguarding checks, insurance, emergency contact, medical information, and collection at the end of the day, and ask you to confirm them.

We do not expect to change the dates, the venue, or the instructors. If we have to make a change that materially affects the seminar — different dates, a different part of London, or the absence of either Doug or Alex for more than two days — we will tell you in writing as soon as we know, and you may cancel within fourteen days of that notice for a full refund of everything paid.

Minor changes — the daily timetable, the room within the building, materials — are not grounds for a refund, and we’ll keep you informed anyway.

Everything we collect about your child for the seminar — the application, the diagnostic and final test results, and the instructors’ notes — is handled as described in our Privacy Policy, which covers students who are minors. Results are shared with you and your child, and with no one else. We will not use your child’s results or name in any marketing without asking you first and in writing.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any right you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, or any other law that protects consumers, and if any part of these terms conflicts with such a right, the right prevails.

If something goes wrong, tell us — admin@learnlocus.com — and we will respond within five working days. We would much rather put it right than argue about it.
